I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Delaware. My research focuses on understanding how landscapes evolve in space and time, spanning alluvial fan, fluvial, coastal, and nearshore settings, with particular interest in the interactions between landscape dynamics, climate, and vegetation. To do this, I combine field, experimental, modelling, and remote sensing methods. I earned my integrated BSc and MSc at University College London, my PhD at Imperial College London, and conducted postdoctoral research at Penn State in both the PSUPER SED and CoLD groups. Outside of work, I enjoy knitting, jump roping, and attending live music events.
It's just me right now. If any students or postdocs are interested in joining the group, please reach out to me at slyster@udel.edu to discuss opportunities!
